Lois GreenLois Greene, RN,C
President
Lois Greene, RNC, MBA  Affiliate Board President began her two year term in July of 2008.  she is currently the Assistant Vice President of the Saint Michael’s Medical Center  Comprehensive Cancer Center in Newark New Jersey.  In this position, she is responsible for the administrative leadership for the Cancer Center the Connie Dwyer Breast Center, the Nadeene Brunini Comprehensive Hemophilia Care Center and  the In the Pink Caner Screening Program. Lois has served on the North Jersey Affiliate Board since 2002.

She holds a Bachelors degree in nursing from Rutgers University and has a Masters degree in business from the University of Phoenix. Lois is a founding member of the Essex County New Jersey Cancer Early Detection and Education Community Coalition.  She is chair of the City of Newark Health Committee Cancer Initiative, chair of the Diversity and Disparity Council for American Cancer Society Eastern Division.

Lois is married to William Greene Jr. and has three children Jayde, Xavier and Gabrielle.

Virginia ValenzeVirginia Valenze
Vice President
Virginia (Ginny) Valenze joined Roche as Director of Public Affairs & Advocacy Development, Oncology, in February 2004, after nearly five years with Pharmacia Corporation. 

With more than twenty-five years in public affairs, corporate communications and marketing, Ginny’s previous experience includes senior management positions in financial services, consumer goods and sports marketing for Fortune 100 companies including American Express, Dun & Bradstreet and Sports Illustrated (Time Inc).  Additionally, Ginny has held public information positions for state governors in New York and Colorado, as well as the NY State Olympic Authority and interstate non-profit governors’ associations. She has taught numerous courses in public relations and communications at New York University as adjunct faculty.

Ginny is a former board member of the International Association of Business Communicators. She is a graduate of Skidmore College (Saratoga Springs, NY), and has done post-graduate work at the University of Colorado. Ginny joined the Affiliate Board in late 2005.

Maureen A. BurkeMaureen A. Burke,
Treasurer
Maureen Burke is is a member of Planning and Budget Office at the Metropolitan Museum of Art having joined the museum in November 2007.   Maureen currently supports the Education Department as well as numerous Curatorial Departments from an accounting and budget perspective which includes the tracking of grant and endowment support.
     
Previously, Maureen has over 20 years of experience in the for-profit financial planning, results and budgeting area. She was a financial manager within the Worldwide Securities Services Division of JP Morgan Chase for two years and from 1979 to 2003, Maureen held various financial analysis and planning positions at Lucent Technologies and AT&T supporting the Network Sales and Wireless Product divisions as well as the AT&T Consumer Long-Distance division.

Maureen joined the Affiliate’s Board in April 2006 serving as the Assistant Treasurer and in April 2008 became Treasurer.  She holds a B.S. from Saint Peter’s College and an M.B.A. from Rutgers University.   

 

 

Katherin Nukk-FreedmanKatherin Nukk-Freeman, Esq.
Parlimentarian
Katherin Nukk-Freeman, Esq. is a founder and principal of Nukk-Freeman & Cerra, P.C., an employment law boutique firm which exclusively represents employers. Ms. Nukk-Freeman co-founded the firm in 2006 after thirteen years in private practice.  She devotes a majority of her practice to the counseling, training and litigating on behalf of clients of all sizes; from start-up companies to Fortune 100 corporations on diverse employment issues. Ms. Nukk-Freeman has been on the Affiliate Board of Trustees since 2004 and she and her firm have been involved with and contributed to the Power of the Promise since its inception.

Katherin graduated from Pennsylvania State University’s Scholars Program in 1990 with a double major in Finance and Accounting, and from the Boston College Law School in 1993.
 

Elizabeth Kennelly

Elizabeth Kennelly is Senior Vice President / Private Wealth Advisor at Wells Fargo Bank. Formerly with Bank of America, Elizabeth has twenty years experience in the banking industry in various management and client relationship roles in the Retail, Commercial and Private Banking sectors. 

Elizabeth joined the North Jersey Affiliate Board of Trustees in 2003 and has served as past Board Treasurer.  She also received the Komen National Cameo Award in 2002. Elizabeth has co-chaired the May Day Tea, chaired the Finance Committee for the Pink Tie Ball® 2003 and volunteered in different capacities over the last ten years.

Elizabeth is one of the Founding members and past Board President of The Women’s Theater Company, NJ. She has served as Co-Chair for the United Way of Essex and West Hudson “Night of Miracles”. For the last ten years, Elizabeth has been a volunteer with the Special Olympics; serving as Chair for the Annual Perlman Cup Women’s Golf Outing.

Elizabeth graduated from Dickinson College with a B.A. in Psychology.

 

 Joe Belfatto

 Joseph A. Belfatto is a Partner at Massey, Quick & Co., LLC, a leading wealth management firm. He joined the firm in 2007 after a twenty-three year career on Wall Street, working for HSBC and Merrill Lynch in various sales, sales management and general management roles. Joe was a founding member of the Affiliate’s Board of Trustees in 1997, and served on the Board through 2003 when his term expired. He recently rejoined the Board, and since inception of the North Jersey Affiliate, has chaired the Development Committee, responsible for overseeing fundraising for the Pink Tie Ball®, including the Power of the Promise Campaign. Joe along with Co-Founder and wife Deb were Pink Tie Ball® Honorees in 2006.

Joe has also served on the Boards of the Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child and the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation, North Jersey Chapter. He is also active in a number of not- for- profit organizations in the northern New Jersey region as a contributor and volunteer.

Joe graduated from Seton Hall University summa cum laude and Harvard Business School.

 

 

 

 

 

 

Ron CheeleyC. Ron Cheeley
is president of The Cheeley Consulting Group LLC.  Mr. Cheeley was formerly senior vice president, Global Human Resources for Schering-Plough from August 1, 2003 to November 3, 2009.  At Schering-Plough, he was responsible for overseeing Schering-Plough's human resources function worldwide, including providing counsel with respect to the company's organizational structure, executive succession and all major human resources policies and programs.  Mr. Cheeley was also responsible for employee health & wellness.



Before Schering-Plough, Mr. Cheeley had been group vice president, Global Compensation and Benefits, for Pharmacia Corporation.  Previously, he served as director, Global Compensation and Benefits, for The Coca-Cola Company.  During his career at Coca-Cola, he also served as director of Human Resources for Coca-Cola India.

Mr. Cheeley holds a B.B.A. degree in accounting from the University of Georgia and a Master of Insurance degree from Georgia State University with concentration in property and casualty risk management and employee benefits.  He also holds a certificate in strategic human resources management from Duke University Fuqua School of Business.

During his career in Corporate Human Resources, Mr. Cheeley was a member of the National Academy of Chief Human Resources Officers and the HR Policy Association.  He was Chairman of the Board of Directors and a member of the executive committee of WorldatWork from 1999-2000.  He was a member of the Board of Trustees of the Employee Benefits Research Institute.  He is a past member of and has served as Chairman of the Conference Board Research Council on Employee Benefits and has served on the Conference Board Executive Compensation Council.  
Mr. Cheeley has served as a member of the North Jersey Affiliate Board of Trustees since 2004.  
Over the past five years, he has spearheaded the Board’s Corporate Development efforts for the Pink Tie Ball® and Pink Tie Party as well as the Affiliate’s 2008 and 2009 Komen North Jersey Races for the Cure® .  We are proud to have Mr. Cheeley serve as this year’s Pink Tie Party Honorary Chairperson. We thank him for his leadership and his commitment to the Affiliate and its vision of a world without breast cancer.

 

Erica Ferry

Erica D. Ferry, Senior Director of Public Affairs at Schering-Plough Corporation. She is responsible for building and enhancing relationships with key external constituencies to promote and facilitate the company’s operations in New Jersey and at other major Schering-Plough sites. She previously served as Director of Community Relations and Contributions Programs for Pharmacia Corporation.  At Pharmacia, she directed a $20 million philanthropy program and served as Executive Director of the Pharmacia Foundation.

In addition to serving as an Affiliate Trustee, Erica serves on the Boards of the Partnership for Quality Medical Donations (PQMD), Community Health Charities of New Jersey, the New Jersey Alliance for Action, the Summit Chamber of Commerce and the Independent College Fund of New Jersey.

Erica received a B.A. in Communication from Cook College (Rutgers University) and a Masters in Communication and Information Studies from Rutgers University. She also holds a Graduate Certificate in Nonprofit Management from Seton Hall University.
 
BOT Debbie Freire

Debra Freire is Vice President of Patient Advocacy Relations at Novartis Oncology.   Her organization focuses on building strong, collaborative relationships with priority patient advocacy groups and on enabling patients to access treatment through financial and educational resources, clinical trial awareness and policy issues.  Debra is responsible for overseeing the oncology patient reimbursement policy and for providing valuable resources to increase patient access.

Debra has been with Novartis for 20 years in positions of increasing responsibility across many therapeutic areas in the commercial arena, including sales, brand marketing, market research, sales and marketing operations, and managed markets. She held the position of Vice President of Corporate Customers, responsible for account management, customer marketing and contracting strategy.  Debra also established the Office of Diversity and Inclusion for the US Pharmaceuticals organization.

Debra holds a Masters in Business Administration from New York University in marketing and international business.  She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Foreign Languages from Brandeis University where she was elected to Phi Beta Kappa and graduated magna cum laude.  She has served on the advisory board of the Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association and is a founder of Empowering Women to Impact Novartis, the largest employee resource group at Novartis. 

 

Board_JeanFarrellJean Criss is a sales and marketing innovator who offers more than 16 years experience as an expert in the media industry.  Since March, 2004 Jean has served as a Local Sales Manager for Comcast Spotlight, responsible for managing local cable TV ad sales in northern & now western New Jersey.   She has been a top biller and lead sales manager in the NY DMA for over five years.

Prior to her position at Comcast Spotlight, Jean worked in business development for Jack Morton Worldwide, an IPG NY agency and was a business and marketing consultant for Reel Biography, a NY based film agency.  Jean has also held senior sales management positions for leading publishing companies including Ziff Davis, CMP Media, IDG, and Reed Business.  Jean is an active member of WICT (Women in Cable TV organization), CAB (Cable Advertising Bureau) NY Chapters, among 20 other local Chamber organizations throughout northern NJ.

Jean is a recent breast cancer survivor and now serves on the Board of Trustees for the North Jersey Affiliate of Susan G.  Komen for the Cure®.  She also serves on the Leadership and Income Development Committees for the Pink Tie Ball® and the Komen North Jersey Race for the Cure®.   Jean raised over $5,000 in 2009 with Team Comcast as a Local Presenting Sponsor, and $23,000 for Team Jean, a Community Team in 2008.   Throughout her involvement with the Affiliate, Jean has helped raise breast cancer awareness in northern and central New Jersey through an educational PSA campaign which she co-produced and aired for several months, and was the official spokesperson.

Jean resides in New Jersey and has two children, Kirsten and Matthew.  Jean received her degree business communications from Walsh College in Michigan, and has attended extensive consultative sales & leadership training.  

 
Christopher Innes

Christopher Innes is the Chief Executive Officer of Greenock Capital, a private investment firm headquartered in Manhattan.  Prior to launching Greenock in 2007, he spent nine years at Bank of America where he was the global head of Equity Derivatives & Finance. Chris joined the Board of Trustees in 2005 and has previously served as co-chair of the Pink Tie Ball® Power of the Promise Committee. Chris and his wife, Ingrid, were the Pink Tie Ball® Honorees in 2005. Chris graduated magna cum laude in 1992 from Claremont McKenna College with a B.A. in economics and government.

 

Ken McKenna

Kenneth McKenna is Executive Vice President and Chief Financial Officer of Doyle New York. He joined the firm in 1992 and previously worked at Kings Super Markets and J.H. Cohn, a public accounting firm.

Ken joined the Board of the Affiliate in 2006 and has served on the Development Committee and the Pink Tie Ball® Power of the Promise Committee. He is a Pink Tie Ball® Guardian Angel donor as well as a founding contributor to the Patient Treatment Assistance Grant. Ken is currently serving as the 2008 North Jersey Race for the Cure Treasurer and was a member of the Affiliate’s Race Committee which helped to build collaborations with the Central South Jersey and Greater New York Affiliates. 

Ken also serves on the United Way of North Essex Board of Trustees as Vice President, is a Past President of the Verona Lions Club and is a Trustee of the Minette Grosso McKenna Angel Foundation. He is currently the Mayor of the town of Verona.

Ken graduated from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant.

 
Daria Placitella

Daria Placitella is regional president of the Northern New Jersey region for
PNC Bank. In addition, Placitella is executive vice president of PNC Wealth Management in the Northern New Jersey, Central New Jersey and Northeast Pennsylvania markets. With over 25 years of experience in serving the complex financial needs of high-net-worth individuals, Placitella has contributed directly to significant growth rates in these regions.
Before joining PNC, Placitella led a team of real estate professionals at Chemical Bank where she was responsible for extending credit to the major real estate development firms in New Jersey. She completed Chemical Bank’s extensive credit training program in 1985. In December 2007, she was named to her current role as regional president.

Dedicated to making a difference in her community, Placitella is a board member of the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra, the New Jersey Chamber of Commerce, Independent College Fund of New Jersey and the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. In addition, Placitella is currently the secretary of the Somerset County Business Partnership Board, a pro-active affiliation linking leaders of business, government, education and non-profits. Additionally, she is on the events committees for the Crossing Borders, a non-profit organization that raises money for displaced homemakers in New Jersey and Northeast Pennsylvania; and the American Heart Association. She also serves on PNC’s
Diversity Council.

She is a former board member of the Westfield Symphony and served on the 2007 nominating committee for the Women’s Fund of New Jersey’s annual fundraising dinner that recognized “Women of Finance” throughout the state.

Among many honors bestowed upon her, Placitella received the PNC Wealth Management Industry Leader Award; the Women of Achievement Award from the Girl Scouts of Rolling Hills; the Women Turning the Century Award for Outstanding Achievement in Banking and Finance from the Women's Fund of New Jersey; and the TWIN Award of Bergen County. In 2008, she was honored as one of New Jersey’s Best 50 Women in Business.

Placitella holds a bachelor of science degree from the University of Delaware.

Judith A. Reinsdorf

Judith A. Reinsdorf joined Tyco International in March 2007 as Executive Vice President and General Counsel. Before joining Tyco, Judy served as the Vice President, General Counsel and Secretary of C. R. Bard, Inc., a medical device company, from 2004 to February 2007. Prior to joining Bard, she was Vice President and Secretary of Tyco International. Judy previously worked for Monsanto Company and Pharmacia Corporation, until it was acquired by Pfizer Inc. in 2003. She joined the Board of the Affiliate in 2006. 

Judy received her B.A. from the University of Rochester in 1986 and her J.D. from Cornell Law School in 1989.

 
Robin Bloink Ventura

Robin Bloink Ventura, Esq. has been legal counsel to the North Jersey Affiliate since its inception in 1997. She, in fact, was the “Legal Committee” that originally affiliated and incorporated NJA Komen, and served on its Board of Trustees as parliamentarian from 1997 to 2005. Robin Co-Chaired The Pink Tie Ball® in 1999, 2002, 2003 and 2004 and is part of the Executive Committee for the Affiliate’s First Annual Race for the Cure to be held in Spring 2008. In 2005, Robin was honored with the Cameo Award at the Volunteer Recognition Tea. 

Robin has been associated with the firm Ventura, Miesowitz, Albano, Keough, and Warner in Summit for many years. Robin graduated from Rutgers College in 1975 and got her law degree from Seton Hall. She has served as Executive Director of the Union County Bar Association, Director of Family Court Intake Services for the Union County Superior Court and a former trustee of the Oak Knoll School of the Holy Child.
