Race for the CureŽ . Pink Tie Ball . Tie A Ribbon
The Tie A Ribbon TM Campaign was a huge success this year. It was hard to drive through Northern NJ without passing by some brilliant pink ribbons in the various towns and counties. The campaign consisted of contacting town administrators for approvals and then gathering a group of volunteers to tie ribbons in the downtown area of a town or school/college/workplace to promote awareness that October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. The North Jersey Affiliate nearly tripled its numbers from the previous year in terms of ribbons being given out, towns being tied and schools or businesses participating. In total, 50 towns were tied, 14 high schools, colleges, hospitals or businesses were tied and approximately 8700 ribbons left our office!!! Liz Russo, who chaired the campaign, sends her heartfelt thanks to everyone that worked so hard and made the event a tremendous success.
Volunteers have spent hundreds of hours preparing the 8' satin ribbons and laminated, attachable "In Honor Of" tags to bear the name of an individual whose life has been touched by breast cancer as well as the life-saving three steps to early detection. The ribbons are a wonderful way to remind women to do their breast self-exam, schedule a clinical exam and get their mammogram. View Photo Album
